780 Years and Counting

On Tuesday, November 2, 73 St. John Fisher College employees were honored at the annual Service Recognition Luncheon for their years of service to the College. In total, the employees have served an astounding 780 years!
Dr. John Mavromatis, associate professor in the psychology department, has been a Fisher faculty member for 40 years. He has also held faculty positions at Monroe Community College, University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music, Nazareth College, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Pittsburgh, and Sisters of Mercy. In 1974, he was awarded a Fisher Summer Research Fellowship and in 1995, he received the College’s Outstanding Teacher Award.
Next in terms of length of service was Dr. Donald Bain, president, who was honored for his 35 years of service. He has held the positions of assistant, associate, and full professor; History Department chair; Dean of Faculty; Provost and Dean of the College; Vice President for Administration; Acting President; Interim President; and was appointed President in November 2005. He twice received the College's Award for Teaching Excellence.
Dr. Bain congratulated the employees at the luncheon, adding, “Keep doing what you love to do, life is too short not to!&rdquo
