Checklist for Prospective/New Graduate & Professional Students
- Apply to college.
- Start a financial aid folder to retain copies of tax returns and aid documents.
- Obtain a Personal Identification Number (PIN) from the U.S. Department of Education at www.pin.ed.gov.
- Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). St. John Fisher College's school code is 002821.
- Review your Student Aid Report (SAR) from the FAFSA for accuracy. If you did not use the IRS Data Retrieval when initially submitting your FAFSA, make a correction to your FAFSA to submit income using the IRS Data Retrieval process after you have filed your federal tax return.
- Receive acceptance letter from college.
- If beginning program in the summer and taking 6 or more credit hours, complete the Summer Financial Aid Request Form [pdf] and return to the Financial Aid Office.
- Receive your financial aid award notice listing estimated aid eligibility. Review any accompanying information and contact the Financial Aid Office with any questions.
- Fulfill admissions deposits by college deadline.
- Accept financial aid offered on Fish 'R' Net.
- Promptly respond to any school requests for additional information or documents, such as copies of federal tax transcripts.
- Notify your Financial Aid Office of any outside scholarships, grants, or other resources you have received or will receive by submitting the information on Fish 'R' Net.
- Complete entrance counseling for any Federal Direct Student Loans(s) you have accepted.
- Complete the Master Promissory Note for any Federal Direct Student Loan accepted.
- If applying for the Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan, complete the Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note.
- Be alert to any electronic billing notices and payment information provided by the Bursar's Office.
