"HEOP has given me the opportunity of a lifetime, which I will cherish for the rest of my life. I’ve been given a chance to get a higher education and be successful in life. This program gives students like me assistance financially and academically. Most of all, HEOP has helped me be motivated to become a better student through the resources presented to me. These resources will help me succeed in college and beyond. HEOP is a family that I’ve grown to love and appreciate."

"Being an HEOP student has certainly been one of best things in my life. HEOP has given me the opportunity to continue my education at a private institution without the worry of financial burdens. It has also allowed me to grow to be an independent woman, thanks in part to a wonderful support network of adults and peers. I will be eternally grateful for the opportunity to continue my education at an institution that will fully prepare me for the many obstacles and successes I will be facing in the future. Behind every successful individual there is a support group; for me that group is HEOP."

"Here at St. John Fisher College, HEOP has given me the opportunity to do great things in my life and pursue all my dreams. The family culture and principles displayed by the staff and students has made me feel welcomed. I would not change anything; I love St. John Fisher College and my HEOP family!"

High School: Pulaski Senior High School, Pulaski, NY
Major: Psychology

"Through HEOP, I've not only become a better student, but also a better person. I've created many friendships that I know will last me a lifetime. I was able to attend Fisher with the funding HEOP provided for me and without that, I would not be in the great place that I am today. HEOP opened many doors and produced opportunities for me. I consider the people connected with HEOP the closest thing to family that I have at my home away from home."

"HEOP gave my fellow HEOP members and myself the opportunity to achieve greatness at a cost that we could afford. Along with doing that, I gained a new family that will always be there when I need them. This is why I would consider HEOP a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

Major: Sociology

"HEOP has not only given me the opportunity for higher education, but the tools I need to reach the highest of my potential. Here at Fisher we have built a close-knit community of reward after hard work. I come from a world of poverty, inequality and struggle. When you look at each one of us, we all share one thing in common: hunger for success. HEOP is helping us reach our goals."

"HEOP has been such a great resource for me during my college experience. The most important thing HEOP has given me is the support that I need to succeed. They help me find tutors when I am struggling and they always make sure I am on my "A" game. They have made me the student I am today and I am so grateful for that."

Major: Political Science

"HEOP is a program that invests in you. The advisors see something in you that makes them want to give you a chance. They provide you with all of the necessary resources and opportunities needed in order to succeed. HEOP gives you that added push of confidence when you feel overwhelmed and in over your head. HEOP is your home away from home. It is family, and family is always there for you. HEOP has helped me grow in more ways than I could have ever imagined and for that I will forever be grateful."

High School: Foreign Language Academy of Global Studies, Bronx, NY
Major: Nursing

"As a Hispanic female from an urban city, I grew up with the stereotype of being incapable to succeed. HEOP has granted me the opportunity to reject that stereotype and has given me hope for a better future. I now have full intentions of graduating with a B.S. in Nursing and pursuing my dream of becoming a nurse practitioner. If it were not for HEOP, I honestly do not know where I would be. However, I know that I would not be as culturally-aware, have leadership capabilities, or be as well-rounded as I am today, had it not been for the limitless help of HEOP here at Fisher. I am beyond grateful for HEOP's generosity and investment in seeing me succeed."

Lindsey White

High School: Corcoran High School, Syracuse, NY
Major: Childhood and Special Education

"I've known since I was a junior in high school and coaching girl's lacrosse and cheerleading that I wanted to be a teacher. HEOP has given me that opportunity. Without it I don't know which college I would be at or even at one at all. Upon first learning about HEOP I was skeptical, especially when they said we were a family, but now I realize we are a family because it is a huge chain of constant support. We push each other to do our best. I love St. John Fisher College, but I love that I'm in HEOP at Fisher even more."
