I have personally gained a greater sense of myself and a newly found confidence. I have maintained the bonds and friendships with classmates that had been formed throughout this program. I have advanced within the company twice since graduating and looking forward to continued success. Fisher provides you with the quality of academia needed to not only accomplish your goals but to pursue your dreams as well.
The Bittner MBA Learning Experience
The Bittner MBA students are expected to develop informed, creative, and integrated perspectives in to becoming better managers and leaders in modern, complex organizations. The curriculum and instruction require students to know about the critical content of multiple business disciplines, appreciate the important thinking that has occurred and events that have shaped the present business environment. The program requires students to analyze firms and their environments, and develop integrated solutions that make practical sense. Students listen to lectures, participate in classroom discussions, work in teams, and engage in off-site (web-based) self-study. The Bittner School expects all faculty members to develop a learning environment, and foster a learning experience that adheres in letter and spirit, to the intents outlined below.
Bittner MBA courses will require the teaching faculty to:
- State in the syllabus, how the course meets the learning objectives of the MBA program.
- Include a mix of lectures, readings, case-studies and material related to emerging business issues (from journals and periodicals) geared toward real-world application.
- Foster an interactive learning environment, rich with opportunities for cross-fertilization of ideas between faculty and students, and among students.
- Use new technologies that enhance opportunities for learning (e.g., web-based tools that encourage and promote off-site learning).
- Participate in activities that assess faculty performance and student learning (e.g., administration of surveys, tests, and preparation of portfolios).
Bittner MBA courses will include material that requires students to:
- Master the classical thinking as well as new and emerging developments in multiple business disciplines - that all competent, professional managers are required to know.
- Think cross-functionally, and develop integrated perspective into the strongly interactive reality of firms and their environment.
- Develop a conceptualization of the eco-system in which firms exist, and the processes by which firms adapt to changing micro (e.g., customers, suppliers, employees), and macro environmental forces (e.g., demographics, competition, and technology).
- Integrate issues of globalization and the global marketplace into their thinking about the firm.
- Develop informed perspectives into the issues of diversity in the workplace; ethical, social, and legal responsibilities of employees and firms.
- Understand how and why multiple organizational forms of varying sizes (e.g., small, mid-sized and large organizations) and purposes (e.g., for-profit, not-for-profit) emerge in the business environment; understand the unique issues that confront them, and the important contributions they make.
- Develop arguments and positions based on analysis, critical thinking and creativity; present them in written and oral formats; and receive and respond to feedback from teachers and students.
