Vision 2020
Be a Part of Fisher History
Your Support is Essential
In 2008, alumni across the United States provided 27.5% of gift income to colleges and universities. At St. John Fisher College in 2008, alumni provided 17.2% of gift income. An important goal of the Vision 2020 campaign is to increase alumni support to the College to bring giving closer to the national average. The Fisher alumni body has grown significantly in the past thirty years and numerous alumni have achieved much in their careers. Increased alumni giving will help achieve the goals of the Vision 2020 campaign and, equally important, will help provide a more consistent and broader-base of gift income for the College in the future.
The Alumni Connection
As a Fisher alumnus, you know the power of the Fisher family. Chances are you've found yourself hundreds or thousands of miles away from Rochester, N.Y. and you've run into a fellow proud alumnus or alumna. We have strong alumni chapters in Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, New York City, Boston/New England, the nation's capital, Atlanta, Florida, and the West Coast. As a part of Vision 2020, we will be traveling to visit our alumni, as we have often in the past, to reconnect and spread the word about this next important phase of growth for our alma mater.
Ways to Give
Here are the many ways you can support Vision 2020:
- Outright cash gifts - An outright gift of cash by a donor, for which the donor receives an income tax deduction as prescribed by current law.
- Multi-year pledges - gifts paid over a period of years may allow a donor to make a more substantial gift while affording him/her the opportunity to adjust the timing and amount of each payment to achieve the most beneficial tax treatment. • Gifts of appreciated stock - If you transfer stock that has been held for more than a year and has appreciated in value, the College can sell the stock and you will avoid tax on the gain. To make a gift of securities please call, or have your broker call St. John Fisher College.
- Matching gifts - A matching gift program is a corporate-sponsored benefit that matches, doubles or even triples an employee's gift to St. John Fisher College. A wide array of companies and their subsidiaries as well as corporate foundations currently match their employees' gifts to charitable organizations. To find out more, please check with your Personnel Office or contact the Fisher Fund Office at 385-8006.
- Planned gifts - Planned gifts include a cash legacy in a Will, IRA charitable rollover, a charitable remainder trust, a charitable lead trust, life insurance policy beneficiary designation, charitable gift annuity contract, real estate, and art and collectibles.
Your Legacy
Over the course of Fisher history, many donors have chosen to leave a permanent legacy on campus through a naming opportunity. Many of your fellow alumni have participated in Vision 2020 in a variety of ways:

“Campaigns represent transformational moments...”
Dear Alumni,
On October 8, 2010 the College launched the Public Phase of the Vision 2020 campaign. The Vision 2020 campaign is the largest and most comprehensive effort in the history of the College and is the result of a strategic planning exercise that articulates the vision for the long-term health and stability of your alma mater.
Campaigns represent transformational moments in the history of institutions. The results to date have been impressive. The Vision 2020 campaign has funded the Wegmans School of Pharmacy, the Wegmans School of Nursing, the Joseph S. Skalny Welcome Center, the William Fay Building, the Polisseni Track and Field and numerous new endowed scholarship funds.
Sincerely,
