The art gallery at the Joseph S. Skalny Welcome Center at St. John Fisher College will open a new exhibit on Monday, March 15. "Forgotten Ireland: Defining a National Identity Through Art in Early Twentieth Century Ireland" will be on display through April 30, and is free and open to the public.

Dr. Asim Abu-Baker, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Pharmacist at the Wegmans School of Pharmacy at St. John Fisher College, will present on Friday, March 5, as part of the College's First Friday Faculty Lecture Series. His lecture, "Pharmacy Practice An International Perspective," begins at 10 a.m. in Basil 135 on the Fisher campus. The event is free and open to the public.

At its annual "The Road Less Traveled" event, St. John Fisher College will welcome Robert J. Duffy, Mayor of the City of Rochester. Mayor Duffy will give the Reverend Joseph A. Trovato lecture, "Youth Violence in the City of Rochester: The Mayor's Response," on Thursday, February 18 at 7:00 p.m. in Basil 135 on the Fisher campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Seven community service student leaders and three staff members spent four days in the nation's capital prior to the start of the spring semester.

Dr. Donald E. Bain, president of St. John Fisher College, announced today that the Polisseni Foundation has donated $3 million to be used for the creation of the Polisseni Track and Field Complex at the College. This gift is the third largest in Fisher's history.

At an early evening reception on November 17, St. John Fisher College awarded its eighth annual Justinian Medal to Richard A. Calabrese '57. In addition, the College issued a special citation and posthumous recognition of Norman A. Palmiere, Sr., Esq. '57, who was a college classmate and close personal friend of Calabrese.

The Small Business Council of Rochester, an affiliate of the Rochester Business Alliance, has named Thomas Bonadio '71 as its 2009 Business Person of the Year. Bonadio, who was chosen from a pool of seven finalists, received the award at the Small Business Council Gala Luncheon on October 14.
