St. John Fisher College Maintains Prestigious AACSB Business Accreditation

The St. John Fisher College School of Business has maintained its business accreditation by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.

AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education and has been earned by less than five percent of the world's business programs. Today, there are 687 business schools in 50 countries and territories that maintain AACSB accreditation.

“The faculty and staff in the School of Business are proud that our continuous improvement processes have been recognized as meeting the very high standards of AACSB International. Truthfully, the real beneficiaries of our high-quality program are our students and the employers who hire them,” said Dr. David Martin, Dean, St. John Fisher College School of Business.

Last September, the School of Business moved into the new Victor E. Salerno Center for American Enterprise, a building made possible thanks to the generosity of Victor Salerno ’66, CEO of O’Connell Electric and Chair of the College’s Board of Trustees. Salerno donated $2 million to Fisher for the construction of the Center in December 2011, and the 20,000 square-foot building opened in time for the 2013-14 academic year. It features a mock trading room, an LED ticker streaming real-time financial data, large classrooms, a computer lab, and faculty offices. It also includes several student study areas, new for business students whose classes previously took place in Kearney Hall, the College’s original building.

The School of Business offers undergraduate degrees in Accounting, Marketing, Management, Finance, and Human Resources Management, as well as the Master of Business Administration. Most recently, students from the School’s Accounting Program won the Northeast Region Deloitte FanTAXtic Competition. They will move on to the national round of the competition January 17-19 at Deloitte University in Texas.

“It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain AACSB accreditation,” said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “Business schools must not only meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and professional staff must make a commitment to ongoing continuous improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver the highest quality of education to students.”
