Sick or Homesick, the Wellness Center is There
Students typically visit the St. John Fisher College Wellness Center counselors for many reasons, ranging from difficulty adjusting to college to mental health concerns. This year, the Wellness Center will introduce an Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) skills group to help students with attention difficulties attain success as they negotiate the many transitions and challenges of their college years.
The Wellness Center staff consists of two licensed Mental Health Counselors, and one counselor whose focus is specifically on substance use problems. Parents are encouraged to contact the Wellness Center to discuss any concerns they may have. Please be reminded, however, that the Wellness Center staff cannot violate your student's rights of confidentiality.
The Wellness Center Counseling Department is available to all students Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. To schedule an appointment, students should call (585) 385-8280 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Appointments last approximately 50 minutes and are free of charge. Each day, the Wellness Center also builds into its schedule one crisis appointment for a student who needs immediate attention.
Please encourage your student to contact us if they feel we might help in any way. Our office opens for the 2011-12 academic year on August 15.
