Day of Service Hospitality Kit Project a Success
01/18/2011
Faculty, staff, and student volunteers spent the national Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service preparing hospitality kits to be distributed to organizations throughout the Rochester community. The project was lead by the St. John Fisher College Service-Learning Program and Office of Multicultural Affairs, with donations from faculty, staff, students, and local companies.
The kits include items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, razors, lotion, soap and other toiletry items.
A total of 472 kits were prepared, beating last year’s total by an impressive 242 kits!
The kits will be provided to several community partners, including Bethany House, St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center, A Meal and More, Saint’ s Place, Sojourner House, and the Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network.
