Goin’ Bald for Bucks Raises $5K for Youth Cancer Support Programs

This week, a few members of the Wegmans School of Pharmacy community are sporting new hairdos, thanks to their support of the Goin’ Bald for Bucks fundraiser. Launched by four pharmacy students, the fundraiser was held on Tuesday, March 22, and raised $5,000 for adolescent and young adult support programs at Roswell Cancer Institute, Wilmot Cancer Center, and 13thirty Cancer Connect. In a recent survey of pharmacy school administrators, only 23 percent of respondents reported that their schools held lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) training programs such as Safe Zone, Safe Space, or Ally programs. That’s a statistic Wegmans School of Pharmacy faculty member Dr. Jennifer Mathews is hoping will increase through a concerted effort to better educate administrators, faculty, students, and preceptors about the importance of understanding the unique health care needs of LGBT patients. Sridhar Receives Competitive Grant from National Pharmacy Association

Anand Sridhar, assistant professor in the Wegmans School of Pharmacy, is one of 14 recipients awarded the 2016 New Investigator Award (NIA) by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). Pharmacy Students Place in Top 10 at National Clinical Skills Competition

St. John Fisher College Wegmans School of Pharmacy students Lilian Brennan and Amanda Gertz recently placed in the Top 10 during the Clinical Skills Competition, held by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). This is the second consecutive year that Fisher pharmacy students have earned a Top 10 finish in the competition. Read More
