Dr. Lavigne teaches pharmacoeconomics, pharmacoepidemiology and quality improvement. She is the course director for Health Care Delivery and Population Based Health Care, and developed a new service learning elective with the Monroe County Health Department: Emergency Preparedness and Mass Prophylaxis.

Dr. Lavigne is Co-Project Manager (with OJ Sahler MD, Professor of Pediatrics, Palliative Care and Psychiatry, URMC) of the Rochester Area Collaborative Center of Excellence in Pain Education (RACCoEPE) funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health for $276,000 (2012 – 2014).

Prior to joining the Wegmans School of Pharmacy, Dr. Lavigne served as Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy. Her research has included collaborations with the US Department of Veterans Affairs and the University of Rochester Departments of Psychiatry, Pediatric Cardiology and the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center. Dr. Lavigne serves on the campus-wide Faculty Council and the Wegmans School of Pharmacy Curriculum Committee. In the community, she is a member of the Board of Directors of Coordinated Care Services, Inc. (CCSI), a management services organization that provides integrated solutions to health and human services customers in 8 states.

Most recently, Dr. Lavigne chaired a review committee for the Innovation Awards, a program funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide $1- $30 million dollar awards to public and private organizations advancing the Triple Aim of improving health outcomes and healthcare quality while controlling or reducing healthcare costs. In September, 2012, Dr. Lavigne served on a technical review panel for the CMS Bundled Payments Initiative.

The Congressionally authorized Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) identified Dr. Lavigne as an expert in current funding areas and invited her to be a reviewer in 2012. PCORI funds comparative effectiveness research to determine how best to provide patients with a better understanding of the prevention, treatment and care options available, and the science that supports those options.
