Nursing Math Screening Test
Students must pass the Level A math screen to complete their application to the Wegmans School of Nursing.
The math screening test for the WSON is supervised by the SJFC Math Center, Golisano Gateway. The Level A screening is the test used to determine competency. Even if you pass a higher level math exam (B, C, or D), you still need to pass the Level A assessment for nursing. Students will have up to 4 attempts at the test to achieve a grade of 84% or higher. Calculators are NOT allowed.
If a student takes the test for the second time and does not score 84 or higher, the student must complete the Remediation Contract [pdf] (listed under Documents & Forms). You may take the math assessment once during any given week.
Transfer students are advised to do remediation before taking the test for the third time. Additional study using any book on medication administration skills is strongly recommended.
Be advised that if you are unable to pass the fourth test with a grade of 84% or higher, you will not be eligible to enter the nursing program.
A Level A Review Packet [pdf] and Answer Sheet [pdf] are available on the Documents & Forms page.
The Math Center is on the upper level of the Golisano Gateway. The Math Center can be contacted by e-mail at mathcenter@sjfc.edu, or by calling 385-8407. You can reach Rebecca Tiffin, Math Center Director, at 385–7395.
