Every day during Bills Training Camp at St. John Fisher College, students and staff from the Wegmans School of Nursing will be offering blood pressure screenings as part of the Greater Rochester Hypertension Initiative. A community-wide group consisting of the Rochester Business Alliance, the Finger Lakes Health Systems Agency, and Fisher has joined forces to raise awareness of hypertension, diet and nutrition, and healthy habits.

St. John Fisher College is proud to announce that Dianne Cooney Miner, PhD, RN, CNRN, Dean of the Wegmans School of Nursing, has been selected as one of the 176 nurse leaders that will be inducted as Fellows during the American Academy of Nursing’s 39th Annual Meeting and Conference on October 13, 2012, in Washington, D.C. Composed of the nation’s top nurse researchers, policy makers, scholars, executives, educators, and practitioners, the 2012 cohort is the largest class of inductees yet.

An unusually broad collaboration of health professionals from the greater Rochester area has been selected by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to help lead the nation’s assault on pain.
The effort is led by physicians and scientists at the University of Rochester Medical Center and includes nurses, pharmacists, chiropractors, acupuncturists and others from St. John Fisher College in Pittsford and from the New York Chiropractic College based in Seneca Falls. It’s one of a handful of times that these institutions have come together to pool their considerable expertise to attract federal funds to tackle a worldwide problem.

On Thursday, May 3, the Wegmans School of Nursing held its Recognition and Hooding Ceremonies, with a crowd of about 700 people made up of students, their families and friends, faculty, and staff.

On Wednesday, April 11, Dr. Donald Bain held his third “Breakfast with the President” event – a session designed to bring updates and news about the College to different segments of the larger Rochester community – up close and personal.

The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) recently reported back to the faculty of St. John Fisher College's Wegmans School of Nursing (WSoN) that 100 percent of the School's recent graduates passed the National Certification Exam for Nurse Practitioners.
