11/20/2014Last spring, Shelby Christensen, a St. John Fisher College alumna who was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease in 2010, reached out to Dr. Tammy Roman, Assistant Professor in the Wegmans School of Nursing, to see if she could share her journey with this rare disease with her students. Christensen produced a video that is still used in Roman’s classes today. Read More

11/13/2014Last spring, senior nursing major Alex Caldwell wasn’t feeling like herself. She was overcome with dizziness, flu-like symptoms, and horrible headaches. On April 17, a day after she just couldn’t finish track practice, she called her mom to come pick her up. On April 18, she was told she had a brain tumor. Read More
11/07/2014Susan Read, Visiting Assistant Professor in the Wegmans School of Nursing, was recently elected vice president of The American Nurses Association-New York. She was elected during the group’s second annual meeting, and her term will continue through 2015. Read More
10/29/2014On October 17-19, Dr. Susan Schultz, Associate Professor in the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education, and Dr. Christine Nelson-Tuttle, Associate Professor in the Wegmans School of Nursing, presented at the Narcolepsy Network’s 29th Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado. Their presentation was titled, “Transitioning to College with a Sleep Disorder.” Read More

Mental Health Counseling Program Recognizes First Group of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselors
09/24/2014Five recent graduates of the Mental Health Counseling Program have also satisfied the educational requirements leading to eligibility for credentialing as an Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in New York State. Read More
09/17/2014The Wegmans School of Nursing recently awarded its very first Advanced Certificate in Mental Health Counseling to Stephanie Bliss, a school counselor in the Rochester City School District. She completed the program in just three semesters, and was known to some of the faculty as “another teacher in the classroom.” Read More
09/08/2014Five years ago, Dr. Karen Parker, Assistant Professor in the Wegmans School of Nursing, was working on a clinical scholarship project that she hoped would become a reality in the near future. This fall, that hope has taken shape, and for the first time, Fisher nursing students will have a Dedicated Education Unit (DEU) as a clinical site option at Rochester General Hospital (RGH).
