Dr. Claudia L. Edwards is an Assistant Professor in the EdD Program in Executive Leadership at St. John Fisher College at the College of New Rochelle, New York. As a member of the faculty, Dr. Edwards provides instruction in executive leadership, applied research and diversity. In addition she chairs several dissertation committees for doctoral candidates, provides dissertation advisement, and supervises field experiences. She is a qualitative researcher and her research interest is in local public-involvement in shaping policy and practices for public schools. Her publication, Who Stole Public Schools from the Public is recognized by researchers across the country. Dr. Edwards holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the Graduate School of Education, at Fordham University, a Master of Urban Planning from New York University, Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service and a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Affairs and Public Policy from Purchase College at State University of New York.
Dr. Edwards has 18 years of experience as an executive leader in government, corporate, not-for-profit and government sectors. This includes having served as the Executive Director of Reader’s Digest Foundation, Vice President for Community Initiatives for the United Way of Westchester and Putnam and Program Director for the New York State Department of Housing and Community Renewal, Homeless Housing Assistance Program. Dr. Edwards is a trustee for the Westchester Medical Center—an appointment by the Governor of New York State and Director for the Westchester Department of Transportation—an appointment of the Westchester County Board of Legislators. Dr. Edwards is acknowledged by her peers as a leader in the field and has been recognized with several prestigious proclamations and awards.
