Mystery Pen Pals Meet
When was the last time you wrote an actual letter? Students from Visiting Professor Sharon Christman's Intermediate Literacy class have been writing letters all semester long to fourth grade students from Clara Barton School No. 2. And this week, they met face to face.
The goal of the assignment was to teach communication skills to the fourth graders, focusing on letter format and content. And the Fisher students would then read, evaluate, and determine instructional support to help guide their pen pals' writing skills.
Letters have been exchanged every week since January. And this past Monday, 20 students from School No. 2 came to campus to meet with their pen pals, take a campus tour, enjoy lunch, and participate in interactive activities.
"We are hopeful that our students can inspire and encourage the elementary students to return to campus and become future Fisher students," said Christman.
