Accounting Alumni Society Presents Lifetime Achievement Awards

The St. John Fisher College Accounting Alumni Society presented Raymond J. Kittelberger '57 and the late Terrance P. McNamara '77 with Lifetime Achievement Awards at an annual luncheon that took place on Thursday, October 4, at the Genesee Valley Club.

Daniel Burns, Regional President of M&T Bank’s Rochester Division, and member of the College’s Board of Trustees, served as the keynote speaker.

Upon graduation, Kittelberger joined Haskins & Sells Public Accountants in New York City. In 1965, he moved to the National Sugar Refining Company where he was the Assistant Controller, working out of both New York City and Philadelphia for four years.

In 1969, he became the Vice President and Controller at Koracorp Industries in San Francisco. A decade later, he joined Levi Strauss & Co. in San Francisco as Vice President. Shortly after starting, he was named Executive Vice President of Levi Strauss and Battery Street Enterprise, a subsidiary of Levi Strauss & Co. Kittelberger was serving as President of Koret of North America, another Levi Strauss subsidiary, when he retired in 1989. Since retiring, he has worked at his own private financial planning practice.

Kittelberger and his wife, Bernice, have two sons, Ronald and Brian, and five grandchildren.

McNamara joined Kasdin, Saiger, Rossman, Elder & Gould CPAs right after graduating from Fisher, and stayed with the firm for three years. In 1980, he moved to Metzger, Wood & Solkolski CPAs, where he worked until 1982. After leaving that firm, he joined EFP Rotenberg, LLP, and was one of the founding members of StoneBridge Business Partners, a business consulting firm and affiliate of EFP Rotenberg.

During his 30-year accounting career, McNamara earned several accreditations and certifications, including the Accreditation in Business Valuation (ABV), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), and Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA).

Earlier this year, McNamara passed away after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife JoAnne, and their daughter, Laura. His award was accepted by his wife and brother, Timothy.

The Accounting Alumni Society was founded in 2008. Its mission is to recognize the contributions of the College’s accounting graduates to public accounting, private and corporate business sectors, government, education, and other areas.
