Accounting Internships Spotlight
Janelle Baldasarre '17
As a new transfer student majoring in accounting, Janelle Baldasarre set out to find an internship that would help her take advantage of the many work experience opportunities in Rochester. Landing a position as an accounting intern at St. John's Home was a perfect way for her to learn more about accounting in practice while allowing her to apply classroom learning as she goes through the Fisher accounting program.
At St. John's Home, Baldasarre assists the financial director with financial analysis, budgeting, and calculating variances, gaining a deeper understanding of how accounting data is structured and used. In addition to understanding the importance of accounting functions, Baldasarre has learned how crucial it is to have good collaborative and organizational skills in the workplace.
After graduation, Janelle plans to continue her education at Fisher by enrolling in the MBA program. She is still considering whether she wants to work in a corporate or small company environment, but plans to acquire more internship experience to help inform that decision.
