Dean's Medal for Outstanding Service
The Dean’s Medal for Outstanding Service was created by Dean Ilter to honor the exemplary and sustained contributions of individuals in the service of the Bittner School of Business. Outstanding service to the School includes involvement in advisory boards, mentoring, fundraising, community relations, accreditation, and more.
Michael O'Conor ’78
Michael O'Conor is currently Senior Consultant and Director, Jordan & Jordan in New York City. O’Conor is recognized as an industry leader in promoting electronic trading, buy-to-sell-side connectivity, and the use of standardized messaging. His expertise in electronic trading platforms for Cash Trading, Program Trading, IOIs, Allocations, Fixed Income, Financial Futures and Options, Algorithmic Trading, and Direct Market Access provides deep insight into trading platforms and market practices for many types of electronic service delivery.
He served on the Board of Directors of the NASDAQ Exchange from 2008 to 2010, and also served as the Inaugural Chair of the Global Steering Committee of FIX Protocol Ltd. O’Conor joined Jordan & Jordan after holding the position of Senior Vice President, Director of Electronic Services for Chapdelaine Institutional Equities. Prior to Chapdelaine, he was Managing Director at Merrill Lynch & Co., where he was responsible for design, development, and deployment of electronic services connectivity to support Merrill’s institutional trading clients worldwide. After graduating with a B.S. in Management from Fisher, O’Conor went on to earn his MBA from Adelphi University.
Currently, he serves as the Treasurer on the Board of the Kennedy Child Study Center, a nonprofit agency dedicated to assisting very young children who experience significant difficulties in learning and other areas of early childhood development. He is a past member of Fisher’s President’s Advisory Council and was recently elected to the College’s Board of Trustees.
Jill Knittel ’94/ ’03 (MBA)
Jill Knittel is currently the Chief Operating Officer and co-owner of ER Associates. ER Associates is a professional services firm specializing in executive and professional search, outplacement and career development services, as well as contract staffing and RPO solutions. Jill’s responsibilities include supervision of all staff and operations, financial reporting, marketing, budgeting and strategic planning for the company. ER Associates was ranked #2 in Rochester’s Top 100 Fastest Growing companies in 2010 and was ranked #31 in 2011.
In 2011, Jill launched ER Select, which has recently been certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the Women’s President’s Educational Organization. ER Select provides Recruitment Process Outsourcing services across the nation to clients of ER Select and ER Associates.
Prior to joining ER Associated, Jill served as Partner at Worldleaders, a national retained/contingent search firm that led executive searches for client companies in various industries. She also held roles of increasing responsibility for Advantage Professionals, LLC from 1997 to 2007. As Vice President for two years, she managed all aspects of external sales, marketing, recruitment, and permanent/contract placement.
In the community, Jill is currently the Vice Chair of the Bivona Child Advocacy Center Board of Directors and is the Chairperson of Bivona’s current capital campaign. She is a Past President of the St. John Fisher Alumni Board of Directors and currently serves on the President’s Advisory Board. Additionally, she is an Executive Committee Member of Duplessis Wolfe Accounting Society, and has served as Emcee for the annual awards banquet and as a guest speaker on campus.
Jill completed a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Accounting at St. John Fisher College. She received her Certified Staffing Professional certification in 2011 and was a recipient of the Rochester’s Business Journal’s prestigious Forty Under 40 award in 2006.
Steven Terrigino ’89
Steven M. Terrigino graduated from St. John Fisher College in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a partner with The Bonadio Group. He has been with the firm since 1995 and is one of Bonadio’s “home grown” partners, having risen through the ranks to become a partner in the Firm’s Small Business Advisory Group. Steve’s practice specializes in closely held businesses in a variety of industries, many of which are physician groups.
Steve was on the St. John Fisher College Alumni Board of Directors for six years and served on the executive committee as Vice Chairman for two years and Chairman for three. Additionally, during the College’s strategic planning process, he was selected by Dr. Katherine Keough to serve on the long-term strategic planning committee as an alumni representative. For the last six years, Steve has chaired the Annual Accounting Awards Banquet Committee, and is one of the founding members and chairperson of the St. John Fisher College Accounting Alumni Society.
Steve is a member of the New York State Medical Group Management Association, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a Board of Directors member for the Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He previously served on the Board of the Monroe County Industrial Development Corporation and is recipient of the Rochester Business Journal’s prestigious Forty Under 40 Award.
James J. Leo ’71
James Leo is a 1971 graduate of St. John Fisher College with a degree in Accounting. He joined Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. in 1978, and is currently Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. James first held the position of Cash Manager in the Corporate Office and later obtained other titles which included Corporate Controller, Food Division Controller, and Manager of Banking and Insurance. He continues to remain involved at the St. John Fisher as a member Dean’s Advisory Council and the Accounting Advisory Board. James has proven to be both a strong leader and successful businessman and has utilized his vast skills not only in business but to help his community and alma mater as well.
Victor Salerno ’66
Vic Salerno joined O’Connell Electric in 1971. The company has since become one of the largest electrical and communications contractors in the country, with headquarters in Victor and branch offices in Buffalo and Syracuse, New York. Mr. Salerno has become a valued contributor to the SJFC campus community as a member and past president of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, the Accounting Awards Banquet Committee, and the Fisher Scholarship Golf Tournament Committee. He was also involved in the formation of the DuPlessis/Wolfe Accounting Alumni Society.
Anthony Monaco ’83
Anthony Monaco joined the law firm of Weidman, Jordan, and Angeloff located in Rochester after graduation from Notre Dame Law School in 1986. He concentrated in civil litigation and corporate law. He subsequently started his own practice, continuing to focus on litigation and corporate law. In 1995, he joined Rochester Colonial Manufacturing Corporation as corporate counsel, and in 2001 was named Chief Executive Officer. His contributions to the business school, among other things, include his membership in the first Management Programs Advisory Board in the late 1990s, and he has been one of the key contributors to the creation of the Excellence in Management Award.
