Bittner School of Business Announces New Marketing Major
Beginning this fall, St. John Fisher College's Ronald L. Bittner School of Business will offer a new Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Marketing degree program.
Since 2002, the Bittner School has offered a concentration in Marketing as part of its B.S. in Management degree. The new program will augment the School's undergraduate offerings in Accounting, Finance, and Management with an end goal of leading to enhanced career opportunities for students.
"Marketing is comprised of a multitude of activities around the delivery of a product or service to the consumer or customer. It's a critical business function in any company because, without customers, no business can survive," said Dr. David Martin, Dean, Bittner School of Business. "By weaving in a strong ethical foundation into a rigorous program, our students will develop the necessary knowledge and skills to have successful careers in marketing."
The program is designed to prepare students for work in a sales and marketing capacity at any company. Students will be exposed to courses related to understanding customers, gathering and analyzing market information, communicating with and building relationships with customers, and marketing products and services to domestic and international consumers and businesses.
"No matter how great a product is, if a company isn't marketing it properly, it will fail. So, this degree program is crucial for students hoping to have a marketing career in any company, large or small, across all business segments," said Dr. Hemant Sashittal, Chair, Department of Management and Marketing.
The program will include new courses in Internet Marketing and Supply Chain Systems that will complement the College's traditional offerings, such as Promotion, Selling, Buyer Behavior, and Marketing Research. The new courses have been developed to add value to the student's ability to understand how to successfully market in an increasingly competitive and multi-dimensional marketplace.
The Bittner School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB), an accreditation that represents a rigorous peer review of a school's practices against globally set standards.
