10/26/2011
Ten accounting students from Fisher’s Bittner School of Business traveled to Boston last weekend to compete in the Deloitte FanTAXtic Competition. The competition attracts 40 colleges and universities throughout the country. One of the Fisher teams placed in the top 10, and will move on to the next stage in the competition in Dallas, Texas on November 18. Students were accompanied by Professors Mike Fedoryshyn and Lynn Mucenski-Keck.
The winning team included Sam Rosenzweig ’12, Cory Morton ’12, Mark Fancher ’12, Jacob Skeval ’14, and Nicole Pappas ’14. They received a cash award totaling $1,000 for the team members, and $2,000 for the Bittner School. Larger cash prizes will be rewarded to the winners in the final round.
The other Fisher team included Eric Swartz ’12, John Whelehan ’12, Brianna Rawleigh ’12, Jen Riekstins ’14, and Brian Johnson ’14, and their performance helped the College achieve the ultimate results.

During the event, teams of five have 25 minutes to present on a complex theoretical case study that requires them to analyze information, identify potential issues, and consider real-world challenges to a hypothetical client situation. Teams prepare PowerPoint presentations and present their solution to a panel of Deloitte judges.

Colleges who competed alongside Fisher include: Bentley University, Boston College, North Carolina State University, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and Michigan State University.
