Dr. Tom Tyson is a Certified Management Accountant and has authored over 55 peer-reviewed publications and 80 presentations in the US, UK, and other locations. An article in the 2003 issue of Advances in Accounting cites Dr. Tyson as one of the five most prolific accounting authors among 201 individuals receiving Ph.D.s in Accounting in 1987. Dr. Tyson received 2004 and 2005 Fulbright Senior Specialist Grants to conduct research and present seminars at the University of Newcastle Business School. He also received the 1997 and 2005 St. John Fisher College Trustees’ Distinguished Scholar Awards.
Dr. Tyson has completed funded research projects for the Institute of Management Accounting, Financial Executives Research Foundation, Canadian Embassy, and Academy of Accounting Historians. He has served as Distinguished Visiting Scholar at La Trobe University and Visiting Professor at Deakin University, both in Melbourne Australia, and as Teaching Fellow at Warwick University in the UK. His primary research interests include financial management and accounting history. He teaches financial and managerial accounting courses in Fisher’s undergraduate and graduate programs.
