Corporate Challenge 2011
On May 24, 62 St. John Fisher College faculty and staff members participated in the 21st Annual JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge at the Rochester Institute of Technology. The Fisher team took on the challenge alongside 8,962 runners and walkers, representing 394 area corporations, businesses, and educational institutions to complete the 3.5 mile challenge.
This year's Fisher team represented the largest number of participants to date, surpassing last year's total of 41 members. And for the first time in three years, the skies were clear! A post-race party featured a spread from Dinosaur Bar-B-Que.
As for the competition itself, the men's team included Alan Pogroszewski, Wes Renfro, Dave Parks, and Todd Harrison, who finished with a combined time of 1:37:17, placing 12th overall.
Jana Berglund Simon, Barbara Lowe, Susan Hildenbrand, and Deb Uman represented Fisher's women's team, finishing in 27th place.
And Fisher's mixed team, including Kathryn Lancioni, Eryn Yates, Ryan Thibodeau, and Scott Bryson, finished in 17th place with a combined time of 1:49:37.
In an effort to raise awareness of the critical importance of educational programs from birth to age five, donations from this year's Chase Corporate Challenge event benefited the Child Care Council, Inc. The Child Care Council is a not-for-profit that provides information, training, and resources to child care providers and parents in Livingston, Monroe, and Wayne counties. It provides training courses, community programs, and important licensing information for parents and providers so that they can offer the best care possible.
Special thanks to Alan Pogroszewski and Tom O'Neil for their assistance in helping to plan this year's event.
