This week’s featured senior in our “Countdown to Commencement” series is Lindsey Kocher. She was nominated by Sally Vaughan, Director of Community Service.
Three members of the Class of 2014 moved on to their next chapter in life together by joining the Rochester Youth Year (RYY) Fellowship Program, an Americorps VISTA-sponsored program administered by the Rochester Regional Network. Loriane Ngarambe, Evan Burnett, and Megan Ryan are now Vistas working at community-based organizations.
A total of 50 graduating seniors were honored on Friday, May 9, when students, their families and friends, faculty, and staff gathered in the Cleary Family Auditorium for the annual President’s Awards Ceremony. The awards were presented by Dr. Donald Bain and members of the Fisher faculty.
Dr. Melissa Ghera, Associate Professor and Interim Chair of the Psychology Department, will be taking a break from the classroom this semester after being named the College’s new Director of Student Academic Support. She will serve in the new role until May 31, 2014.
Dr. Tim Franz, Professor of Psychology, and Dr. Kris Green, Professor and Interim Program Director, Graduate Program in Math/Science/Technology Education, recently co-published an article in the Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
As part of its Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Monday, St. John Fisher College announced the 2012-2013 recipients of the Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Undergraduate Diversity Scholarship. Ms. Yesenia Garcia-Key, Community Engagement Coordinator, Excellus BlueCross Blue Shield, presented Mohammad Husain Bawany ’13 and Kaelen Austin ’13 with $500 scholarships in recognition of their involvement in Fisher clubs and organizations whose programs reflect a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice.
St. John Fisher College has added several new faculty members for the 2012-13 academic year across a variety of disciplines.

Dr. Tim Franz, Professor of Psychology at St. John Fisher College, will release his new book, "Group Dynamics and Team Interventions: Understanding and Improving Team Performance," this May.
St. John Fisher College Statistics Professor, Dr. Bruce Blaine, has been awarded the status of Accredited Professional Statistician™ by the American Statistical Association.
