Pi Mu Epsilon Chapter Installed
The Department of Mathematical and Computing Sciences recently announced the formation of the New York Alpha Sigma Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon at St. John Fisher College. The Pi Mu Epsilon Council unanimously approved the petition for the chapter, and an installation and first induction ceremony was held on April 9 in the Hughes Rotunda.
Joan W. Weiss, Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Professor of Mathematics at Fairfield University, served as the installing officer. The Student Charter Members recognized in the petition to create the chapter included JenAlyse Arena, Michelle Beeman, Kellisa Hansen, Richelle Jones, and Forrest Smith. Dr. Mark McKinzie, associate professor and permanent faculty correspondent of the chapter, and Dr. Erica Johnson, chapter advisor, were also inducted.
The New York Alpha Sigma Chapter is the 351st chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon. As a national mathematics honor society, Pi Mu Epsilon is devoted to the promotion of scholarly activity in mathematics at academic institutions.
