Interdisciplinary Studies

Are you looking for a personalized major program that will let you combine several academic fields into a coherent program of study? Then Fisher's program in Interdisciplinary Studies is right for you.

The program is designed to serve:

  • Mature adults who no longer want or need a traditional major (including those who have accumulated college credits in several fields but whose needs and goals have changed).
  • Men and women, with or without prior college credit, at the midpoint of their careers who want and must have a baccalaureate degree but not necessarily a major in a traditional academic discipline.
  • Students who have completed an associate's degree and want to explore their interests in an individually tailored program.
  • The traditional college-age student who either has a specific interdisciplinary plan in mind for graduate studies or who seeks a general liberal studies education for its own sake.

Program Details

In consultation with two full-time faculty from different departments, you'll outline your goals, objectives and methods of evaluation for your unique program of study.

The Interdisciplinary Studies program leads to a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Arts degree. A minor in Interdisciplinary Studies is also available with permission of your advisor and the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences.

The Undergraduate Catalog contains the most current information regarding a major or minor in Interdisciplinary Studies.
