Dr. Oliver Griffin is First Featured Speaker of 2011 First Friday Lecture Series

On Friday, February 4, Dr. Oliver L. Griffin, assistant professor of European history at St. John Fisher College, will serve as the First Friday Lecture Series speaker. His presentation is entitled “Eagle vs. Bear: The German Army Looks East, 1906-1914.” The lecture will take place in the Joseph S. Skalny Welcome Center at 10:00 a.m.

Griffin will talk about German military perceptions of tsarist Russia between 1904 and 1914, and how the German view of Russia shifted from concern to alarm by the eve of World War I.

The First Friday Faculty Lecture Series takes place on the first Fridays of February through April in the spring semester. The lectures are designed for individuals who are interested in hearing learned perspectives on a variety of topics from members of the St. John Fisher College community.
