Step 3: Application Process

International Flags

The application process is twofold:

  • The SJFC Foreign Study Application [pdf] requires the student to plan each semester up to graduation to insure that Foreign Study is integrated within the degree program. The application must be submitted with signatures of approval from the student advisor, Registrar's Office, Bursar's Office, and Assistant Dean of Students before the Director of Foreign Study may process the application to the affiliate program.
  • Students must also simultaneously complete an application to study abroad through the provider they choose: AIFS, CIEE, or CCA. This application process can be started online via the provider’s website. Remember, however, that in order to study abroad students must still submit their completed SJFC application to the Director of Foreign Study for final approval.
  • A Foreign Study Liability Release [pdf] must be signed by student and parent/guardian prior to registration.

Information and Application

Please apply through the campus Foreign Study Program Director, Dr. Kathleen Costello in Basil Hall 108. Fisher Foreign Study applications are due to Dr. Costello by October 15 for the spring semester and by March 1 for the fall semester. Please be aware that deadlines for programs in countries such as Spain, Italy, and France have earlier deadlines - October 1 and March 1 – to allow for the necessary time to obtain a student visa.
