Magazine, a Rochester-based monthly literary arts journal.
As part of its Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Monday, January 20, St. John Fisher College announced the 2013-2014 recipients of the Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Undergraduate Diversity Scholarship. Ms. Yesenia Garcia-Key, Community Engagement Coordinator, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, presented Loriane Ngarambe ’14 and Tyana Velazquez ’15 $500 scholarships in recognition of their involvement in Fisher clubs and organizations whose programs reflect a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice.
St. John Fisher College will celebrate National Philosophy Day on Thursday, November 21, but this time, organizers have added a digital twist. This year, the program will revolve around Digital Philosophy, with speakers from Fisher along with several area colleges. All sessions will be held in the Golisano Gateway Midlevel.
For the third year in a row, St. John Fisher College faculty participated in the “Brain Game,” the annual fundraiser for Literacy Volunteers of Rochester, on October 10.
Students and faculty at St. John Fisher College will celebrate the annual “Four Freedoms Week” November 3-9 through a variety of campus-wide initiatives aimed at embracing the freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear.
A total of 18 freshman in the “Travels and Transformations” Learning Community spent three days in Montreal, Quebec, with Dr. Mark Rice, Professor and Chair of American Studies, and Dr. Jim Bowman, Assistant Professor of English.
Dr. Deborah Uman, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of English, co-edited a recently published book entitled, Staging the Blazon in Early Modern English Theater.
The St. John Fisher College English Club recently donated books valued at over $700 to the Dr. Charles T. Lunsford School No. 19 in Rochester.
Annemarie Maurer ’12 had an article published in the April issue of NextStepU E-Magazine about the value of the liberal arts education she received at St. John Fisher College.
