Faculty Publishes in Economic Journal
Dr. Gary Maggs, Professor and Chair of Economics, recently had a paper selected for publication in the Anthology section of the Atlantic Economic Journal.
The paper is entitled, “A Note on Double Dip Recession,” and was co-written with Dr. Ben Kyer, Professor of Economics at Francis Marion University, in response to the National Bureau of Economic Research’s announcement that the great recession of 2008 really ended in 2009. After the announcement, there was much discussion in the media and in academia regarding the possibility of a “double-dip” recession. While the term dates back to the early 1980s, there is not a generally accepted definition of what it actually means. The paper offers a logical definition of a double-dip recession which could be useful in both pedagogical and policy-making discussions.
The Atlantic Economic Journal is an official publication of the International Atlantic Economic Society. For more than 30 years, the journal has published articles tracing some of the most critical economic changes and developments at a global level. The journal facilitates and synthesizes economic research across nations in order to encourage cross-fertilization of ideas and scholarly research.
