C/J Faculty Publish Chapter in New Book

Communication/Journalism professors Jeremy Sarachan and Kyle F. Reinson have written a chapter in the newly published book, Educating Educators in Social Media.

The chapter is entitled "Public Issues, Private Concerns: Social Media and Course Management Systems in Higher Education." In the chapter, Sarachan and Reinson call for a reconsideration of traditional course management systems (CMS) as academic intellectual property becomes more open. And as students' expectations for familiar and accessible virtual spaces grow, they suggest that CMS's are limited in creating collaborative and engaging educational environments when compared to various applications available on the web.

The book is volume one in a series entitled Cutting-Edge Technologies in Higher Education, published by Emerald Group Publishing.
