Chemistry Alumni Receive National Science Foundation Graduate Awards

Kacie Rich ’13, Corinne Kingsley ’12, and Arielle Mensch ’12, three former Chemistry majors, recently received awards from the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP).

The GRFP works to help outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics areas who are pursing research-based masters and doctoral degrees at accredited United States institutions.

Rich was awarded a full fellowship by the program and is currently studying Chemical Structure, Dynamics, and Mechanism at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Kingsley received honorable mention and is studying Chemical Measurement and Imaging at Cornell University. Mensch, who is studying Environmental Chemical Systems at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, also received an honorable mention.

The program is the oldest graduate fellowship of its kind and focuses on selecting recipients who achieve high levels of success in their futures both academically and professionally. NSF fellows are expected to become experts who can contribute to research, teaching, and innovation in science and engineering.
