AIT Program Requirements
Requirements for the B.S. in Applied Information Technology include the completion of the AIT courses listed in the foundation sequence and the courses required for the second discipline. A student can pursue a double major, such as a double major in AIT and Mathematics, subject to the approval of the student's advisor, respective Department Chairs and the AIT Major Committee.
For students majoring in Applied Information Technology, all required courses are included in the determination of the grade point average in the major.
Goals
The goals of the St. John Fisher College Applied Information Technology program are to prepare students to:
- Use and apply current technical concepts and practices in the core information technologies, including programming, computer networking and hardware, databases, web technologies and issues.
- Effectively design IT-based solutions and integrate them into the user environment.
- Identify and evaluate current and emerging technologies and discuss their applicability to solve the users’ needs
- Analyze the impact of technology on individuals, organizations and society, including ethical, legal policy issues
- Demonstrate independent critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Collaborate in teams to accomplish a common goal by integrating personal initiative and group cooperation
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with clients and peers both orally and in writing, using appropriate terminology
